Andrew Bunsell

Andrew Bunsell is a producer, composer and audio director working across film, theatre and audiovisual projects. He is the founder of Paralel Audio, a studio for original composition, sound design and audio post-production.

He developed his practice in London, working across the experimental and independent music scenes, including at Fortress Studios and later through Dalston Studios. His music has been performed and presented in contexts ranging from Cafe OTO and the Barbican in London to the MALBA in Buenos Aires. Alongside long-term collaboration with composer and producer Tom Relleen, his work extends from minimalist and textural composition to orchestral writing, electro-punk, noise and hybrid forms, bringing a broad but coherent musical language into his scoring work.

His approach favours restraint, emotional clarity and precision. Rather than over-scoring, he focuses on identifying the few elements that will carry a scene, whether through minimal structures, evolving repetition, granular texture, strong emotional direction or the use of space and silence. This allows music and sound to support the narrative without overwhelming it, while remaining capable of expanding into more complex or layered forms when required.

He has also developed sound for stage and led composition for live performances presented internationally. He works both at early development stages and in post-production, contributing to the overall sonic direction of a project as well as delivering recording, editing, atmospheres and final mix. His process is collaborative and responsive, adapting to the needs of each director or team while maintaining a consistent level of detail, speed and reliability.

Alongside commissioned work, he maintains an independent practice as a composer and artist.
